NO PUSSYFOOTING AROUND: MELBOURNE CHOREOGRAPHER EMMA DELMENICO CELEBRATES 16 YEARS WITH CATS
After spending nearly half her life working on the musical Cats as a dancer and choreographer, it’s no wonder there are times when Emma Delmenico sometimes forgets that she’s actually not a cat.
“When I left the house this morning there was a bird on my front lawn and I went, ‘Kccckkkkk!,” the Melbourne performer says, claws out. “I thought, ‘Oh god, no one saw me do that, did they?”
It’s going to get awfully hot in those furry costumes when the latest incarnation of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s worldwide hit stage show about a tribe of cats called the Jellicles opens in Melbourne this weekend.
But at least the Regent Theatre is air-conditioned, which is more than can be said for the tent in which the musical was staged in Darwin in 1999. Read more…
